North Canyon High School
Television Studio Restoration

Proposal

In addition to assisting with the restoration, I drafted a proposal for the school detailing a cost-effective approach to upgrade the studio to meet Arizona Department of Education standards for courses in broadcasting and video production. While much of the existing equipment was state-of-the-art at the time of the studio's construction in 1991, my proposal seeks to augment, not replace, current resources, focusing on pedagogy and the ability for students to acquire necessary skills. Instead of retooling to digital, this approach adds functionality that would be neglected due to budgetary constraints if rebuilding from scratch. Students' exposure and use of the equipment would be the same (unaffected) in professional operations by the underlying technology. As needed, the studio may grow and digital components may replace analog ones where necessary to meet educational needs and impart a viable skill set.
